Application	Diethylaminosulfur trifluoride (DAST) is used as a fluorinating reagent and a fluorinating agent in anticancer drugs. For example, it reacts with alcohols to give the corresponding fluoroalkanes; with acyl chlorides to give the corresponding acyl fluorides; with aldehydes or ketones to give geminal difluorides; with sulfides to give α-fluoro thioethers, which can then be oxidized with m-chloroperbenzoic acid to yield α-fluoro sulfoxides.
