materials Science: Widely used in functional materials and fine chemicals
preparation method
bis (3,5-dimethylphenyl) phosphine oxide can be synthesized by the following methods:
grignard reaction method (main synthetic route):
1-Bromo-3, 5-dimethylbenzene (129.5g,3.5 eq) was slowly added to a suspension of magnesium turnings (17.0g,3.5 eq) in tetrahydrofuran (THF,770 mL), and the internal temperature was maintained at 40-50°C.
The reaction mixture was kept stirring at 40-50°C for 1 hour and then cooled to 0°C.
Triethyl phosphate ((EtO) ZPO, 27.7g,0.200 mol) was added dropwise within 30 minutes and stirring was continued for 1 hour at 0°C
after completion of the reaction, the reaction was quenched with 6M aqueous hydrochloric acid (260 mL)
the mixture was extracted with dichloromethane (CH₂ Cl₂,260 mL × 3) and washed with water (H₂ O,130 mL × 2).
After concentration in vacuo, the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography
bis (3,5-dimethylphenyl) phosphine oxide (49.7g, yield 96%) was obtained as a light yellow solid
upstream raw materials: 3,5-dimethyl bromobenzene, magnesium, triethyl phosphate, tetrahydrofuran, etc.
