Application	Orforglipron is a new type of chemically synthesized oral non-peptide drug that can help fight diabetes by boosting glucose-dependent insulin secretion and improving energy balance. In preclinical models, orforglipron has shown good effectiveness in lowering high blood sugar in lab animals, and it also has pharmacokinetic features suitable for oral administration. Currently, orforglipron is being studied as a drug for improving blood sugar control and chronic weight management (weight loss) in adults, with its Phase 3 clinical trials starting in September 2023. Phase 1 clinical studies of orforglipron showed that it works similarly to GLP-1 and could be used to treat obesity and type 2 diabetes, comparable to other GLP-1 analogs. Phase 2 clinical data indicate that orforglipron treatment can significantly reduce HbA1c and body weight, and no clinical adverse events inconsistent with other GLP-1 receptor agonists were found. Its PK profile allows for once-daily oral dosing without any food or water restrictions, which could offer a safe and effective oral treatment option for patients with T2D and other conditions. Currently, injectable drugs are the mainstream treatment, but compared to injections, oral medications provide more convenience and accessibility and can also eliminate some patients' fear of injections.
