Purity
Application	Iridium acetylacetonate (Ir(acac)3) has a low sublimation temperature, good volatility, and film-forming properties. In the early 1980s, Harding did pioneering work using iridium acetylacetonate as a precursor to make high-purity Ir coatings. (1) Using Ir(acac)3 as a precursor and MOCVD technology to prepare Ir coatings, it has been widely used as a base material for engines in missiles, rockets, cruisers, and cars. (2) Using Ir(acac)3 as a deposition source to prepare Ir-C cluster films on ZrO2 substrates, which have excellent electrochemical properties. (3) Ir(acac)3 is used as a catalyst for the hydrogenation of sulfur-containing aromatics. (4) Ir(acac)3 is a strong photoreducing agent in phenylpyridine aqueous solutions. (5) By using commercial carbon black as the carbon source, 2-methylimidazole and iridium acetylacetonate as the nitrogen and iridium sources, atomically dispersed Ir-N-C catalysts were successfully prepared.
